Bridal Shower Party Games - Celebrating The Upcoming Big Day

If your big day is coming up, having a bridal shower is great way to celebrate with all the important women in your life. As everyone knows, however, bridal shower party games are the way to turn a special occasion into a fantastic party. Here are a couple of games to get you started:

“The Necklace Game” Bridal Shower Game

This is one of the many bridal shower party games that can help break the ice between guests that don’t know each other.Prior to the party, either prepare (out of candy, pasta or popcorn) or buy enough novelty necklaces for each guest. Present each guest with their necklace upon arrival. For the duration of the party, guests must never refer to you or your fiancé by your first names, only as “the bride” or “the groom”. If a guest hears another refer to you by your first names, they must remove the necklace of that person and wear it themselves. The person wearing the most necklaces at the end of the party is the winner of this bridal shower party game.

Wedding Party Gift Ideas

A number of people play an important part in making your wedding celebration a success. A well chosen wedding party gift is the best way to thank all the people in your wedding party who helped make the day so memorable for you. Here we have some ideas that tell the members of your wedding party, in the best way possible, how much you appreciate their being around on your special day:

  • Wedding party gifts for female attendants (including the Maid of Honor and the Bridesmaids): A favorite gift option for the most important people in your wedding party is jewelry. A simple, yet elegant necklace or bracelet is bound to be loved by all. Consider hair jewelry, like a bejeweled barrette, as well. A variation on this is a decorated jewelry box. For an added personal touch, consider getting it engraved with their names. For Maids of Honor and Bridesmaids who love surrounding themselves with sweet smells, great gift options include a bottle of perfume, votive candles and aromatherapy kits. For those who love looking good, think of gift ideas such as a make-up kit, a manicure and pedicure set or even a spa set. Maids of Honor and Bridesmaids who love good food and wine will love a bottle of fine wine and a box of chocolates. Yet another option for these foodies is a set of gourmet cookbooks or a collection of fine and rare spices or even a set of gourmet teas and coffees. The music lovers in your wedding party are sure to appreciate a set of CDs from their favorite artist just as much as the movie freaks will enjoy a DVD or two. And for those who love to have a good time, a set of margarita glasses or wine glasses works great! Continue reading…

  • Bachelorette Party Games

Games can take a bachelorette party from boring to fun. Depending on the theme and atmosphere of the bash, you can have either wholesome or sexy games. Read on for some ideas to help you make your choice.

Toilet paper dress contest. Split the guests into groups of three to four, and give them rolls of toilet paper. One of them will serve as the ‘model,’ while the rest will be ‘fashion designers.’ The objective is to dress the model as fashionably as possible using only toilet paper (no pins or sewing!). The group with the best-dressed model wins.

Scavenger Hunt. If you are holding the bachelorette party in a spacious house or a big garden, this is the perfect game. Cleverly hide prizes such as aromatherapy candles or spa treatment gift certificates in different places around the venue. Write down several clues on small pieces of paper – one clue should lead to another. Then, divide the girls into several teams groups and see who gets the ‘treasures.’

Pin the tail on the donkey, adult style. Make the bride-to-be and her guests blush with this mischievous game. You need a poster of a sexy male model in his underwear, and penis cutouts from magazines. Blindfold the bride, lead her in front of the poster, and spin her around. Ask her to pin the penis cutout and see where it lands! Make the guests take turns in this fun game.

Bridal Shower Games for the Guests

Some guests like a party that involves them in an activity such as the more popular bridal shower games that are becoming almost a necessity for the average shower. These active and more involved games aren’t like trivia games or the ‘newly wedded’ game that’s adopted from the television show. Everyone usually has an equal chance to win something or just have a little fun.

The first game idea is the ‘Bridal Drawing’ game. It’s more of a fun activity than a game because there isn’t really a winner; it’s just something to laugh over. Give each of the guests a piece of paper, a pencil, and a book or brown paper bag. There are a couple of variations of the game. In some the guests have to put the paper flat on the cover of the book and place the book on the tops of their heads, with the paper side up. Then they have to draw a picture on the tops of their head’s; of what the bride will look like on her wedding day. In another version the guests just put paper bags over their heads and draw the picture on any hard surface in front of them. The point is to keep them from being able to see what they are drawing. Usually the game results in a few good pictures to laugh over and you can save them to give to the bride in a memory book.

    Game #1 - First Kiss

The wonderful first kiss between the person you feel in love with and married should be unforgettable. Right? Here’s how this game works. Start with the bride. She should not have a problem describing her first kiss, where it happened, when, etc. Now when she is done with her story it’s time to open the floor unexpectedly. Everyone will now have to tell the tale and recall the first kiss they had with their significant other. If this event happens to have both male and female marriage counterparts have them tell the story separately and see how they match up. Should be good for some laughs.

Play Games at My Wedding Reception?

You can add spice to your wedding reception and have great fun doing it by playing games! Of course, you’ll still have that first dance with your new spouse to the tune from when you first met. And, you’ll still get to eat from each other’s fork when you cut-the-cake.

While the bride may play games at her bridal shower with the other “girls”, games are not reserved for showers only. You can use games to encourage conversation among your guests. Games can also help in cases where you want a fully enjoyed reception, yet there are religious or other reasons for limiting your dancing or music.

There are basically three types of games that work at a wedding reception. They are: Games for Everyone, The Joke is on the Bride and/or Groom and Outdoor Games (of course for an outdoor wedding).
